Director Samira Haddad (I Am Not a Serial Killer, The Day I Met You) stars in this feature film that follows a fictionalized case of sexual assault and sexual harassment that took place at the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles.
The film tells the story of a female student who had to leave campus to seek help after an unwanted sexual encounter.
The student is eventually convicted of the crime and sentenced to probation.
Haddady is a former student of Judge Roberta Craddock (Cindy Borenstein) who was convicted of sexual abuse in 1995.
After the student was freed from prison, she was the subject of an unsuccessful lawsuit against Craddock and her family.
Haddon was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for her work on the film and is currently working on a new project, which is due to be released later this year.
The Reader film will air on PBS in January.
