The next big gaming phenomenon is coming from the movie world, with a movie based on a video game.
This coming July, director Jordan Peele will direct the follow-up to the smash hit franchise Furious 7, which saw a $1.9 billion opening weekend in China.
In a new interview with Deadline, Peele shared details about the film’s plot, the making of the film and why he thinks the film will “change the world” of video games.
“Furious is one of the most important films I’ve made.
It’s not a game, it’s a story of a story,” he said.
“You have this character, who’s kind of the ultimate bad guy, who is a mercenary, who has to go out and get his next paycheck.
And that’s the movie.”
Peele is also set to direct the upcoming sequel, Fathom Events, which is slated for a November 2, 2019 release.
“I feel like I’ve got to do a movie that’s about a film that I wrote that I’m making.
It has to have a story that has some sort of significance to the people who made it.
So, I’ve been very lucky that it has been made.
And now I’m looking forward to doing it with a filmmaker like Jordan Peele.”
